After being added to the 15-man roster and chosen for the main tournament in the Americas, Sanju Samson will participate in his first T20 World Cup later this month. This season in the Indian Premier League, Samson finally got his time to shine after years of patchy play and little opportunities. He gave a fantastic performance for the 91 club. Samson, along with Rishabh Pant, is now India’s second wicketkeeper after defeating KL Rahul in the race for T20 World Cup places with 385 runs at a blistering strike rate of 161.08 in nine games.
But for Samson, it was only the start. Challenges remain to be solved as India starts their tournament campaign. Will Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, and other talented players find a place in the middle order for the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter? When and where will he bat if he does at all? Even if they could come up at jeetbuzz and Rohit Sharma’s media conference later on Thursday following the team selection, Samson isn’t very worried about them just yet.
The captain of the Rajasthan Royals is currently focused on leading his side to victory and doing well in the Indian Premier League.
Samson responded, “That’s a very tricky question,” when asked whether he has a certain batting position in mind for the first-ever international tournament, according to Star Sports.
Since everyone’s attention is focused on the batting stances, we gave it careful thought. Where and when is Sanju going to bat? Sanju is taking the lead at bat. But I also believe that the team has to aim for the IPL championship. At the moment, winning the Indian Premier League is the most important thing. According to Samson, it is the only goal the players should be focusing on.
Samson’s Rajasthan Royals are now atop the IPL 2024 standings, having won eight of their previous nine games. For the past three seasons, RR has been incredibly dependable under Samson’s leadership, and as a result, they are almost a lock for a postseason spot in the league. The Royals suffered a loss in their 2022 season matchup with the Gujarat Titans.
