Gators pushing hard to flip this blue-chip EDGE committed to Penn State

Florida football has been rolling along on the recruiting front with a flurry of recent signings that propelled the Orange and Blue into the top 10 of many of the most prestigious recruiting rankings. While Billy Napier and his staff have been focused on maximizing the returns from the deep prospect pool that resides in their own backyard, the Gators are not shying away from poaching from other programs either.

Four-star EDGE Tomarrion Parker, a member of the 2024 class out of Phenix City (Alabama) Central, is currently committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions but last week the 6-foot-four-inch, 245-pound defender re-opened his recruitment. That made way for a flood of interest in the blue-chipper’s talent, which includes the Gators who appear to have an edge on the EDGE.

Some of the schools in hot pursuit of the Cotton State prospect are the Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan State Spartans, Tennessee Volunteers and Clemson Tigers, among others. The young student-athlete appears intent on doing his due diligence before finalizing his commitment.

“I feel like I want to take a few visits,” Parker told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Also, rethink some things, gather more information on teams and really sit down and focus in on what I want out of a program and what they can provide for me.

“I want to be fully committed into a team. If I’m not fully committed, I don’t want to be committed at all. I don’t want to do nothing out of the line, you know what I’m saying, make things bad on both ends.”

Parker is ranked No. 100 overall and No. 12 at his position in his class nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 129 and 18, respectively.

Two of his three crystal ball predictions from 247Sports are still held by Penn State while a third was awarded to Georgia. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Florida in second behind the Nittany Lions with a 25.2% chance of landing him, while no other school has a greater than 1% chance for him.
