There’s Hallmark’s Christmas in July and then there’s Alabama football‘s Flipmas in June.
The latter occurred this week: Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide managed to get Isaia Faga to flip his commitment from Utah to Alabama, Faga announced Wednesday.
He’s a three-star defensive tackle in the 2024 class who is from Central High School in Phenix City. The 247Sports composite ranks him as the No. 78 defensive lineman in the 2024 class and No. 764 overall.
Offensive line coach Eric Wolford is listed as his primary recruiter. Defensive line coach Freddie Roach is listed as the secondary recruiter.
He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 275 pounds. Faga also had offers from programs such as Texas, Auburn and BYU.
Faga becomes the ninth commit in the 2024 class for Alabama. Five-star prospects such as quarterback Julian Sayin, athlete Jaylen Mbakwe and receiver Perry Thompson headline the class. Alabama has three five-stars committed, four four-stars and two three-stars.
The class as a whole ranks No. 26 nationally heading into July, according to the 247Sports Composite.
