Since the first Pokemon game, bug types have changed a lot.
Type of bugOver the last few generations, Pokemon have had a great comeback. They used to be one of the weaker types, with a few notable exceptions, but now they’re a great type to have on your team, and every new game brings lots of great new bugs.
This is just as true for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The ninth generation of pocket monsters has a lot of great bugs that work well with other bugs, and some of the older bugs are still great.
Spidops

What is this? Is that a spider Pokemon with eight legs at last?! That’s definitely a first. Some people might not think Spidops is the best Bug-type Pokemon ever, but there’s something really appealing about how Game Freak made a cute spider that isn’t just a fuzzy little thing that makes it so fun to use.
Still, if you have to use it in a fight, it’s not beyond repair. First Impression is a great priority move that is easy to switch to with U-Turn. Silk Trap is a cool new Protect.
Lokix

Lokix is, in a word, different. To put it in two words, totally radical. The sporty Bug/Dark-type is a powerful fighter that doesn’t look like it’s that big. It doesn’t have the best scores, but moves like First Impression and Sucker Punch will surprise you with how hard they hit.
As a bonus, it gets Axe Kick, a brand-new, very powerful Fighting move that might throw off its target. Lokix is a great example of a Bug type that you can use from the beginning of the game all the way through the end. Goodbye, Butterfree.
Vivillon

Isn’t there something really interesting about Vivillon? This Pokemon is a collector’s dream because it comes in so many colors. If you know what you’re doing, it can also do well in battle; Quiver Dance is a great move.
You can only get the Fancy Pattern Vivillon in Scarlet and Violet, but you can transfer other patterns from Pokemon Home if you want to. A Modern Pattern or Sandstorm Pattern Vivillon is sure to please.
Forretress

Since the beginning, Forretress has been a great defensive game, and it seems to get better with each generation. This big Bug-type will be great as the leader in important fights because it can deal with a lot of different entry threats and use moves like Volt Switch to switch to stronger sweepers. It can also use its huge size if you give it Body Press.
And really, those confused eyes make it impossible to say no. Forretress always have a look of wonder on their face, which makes us really like them.
Rabsca

It’s very interesting to learn about Rabsca, the psychic dung beetle. Revival Blessing is a move that it only shares with Pawmot that stands out. You can only use it once before you have to recover the PP, but it will bring back to life any Pokemon on your team, which is very helpful in tough fights.
But Rabsca is a pretty good special attacker even when it doesn’t have Revival Blessing. Its Special Attack stat is high, and it has good covering moves like Electro Ball, Shadow Ball, and Sludge Bomb. Rabsca can catch any enemy off guard.
Heracross

Since the beginning, Heracross has been a great Pokemon. Fighting and Bug together are a strong type combo that helps cover weaknesses, but Flying-types are now the devil himself.
At a high level, a Heracross with Megahorn and Close Combat can scare any Pokemon that doesn’t fight back. It will scare even those that do with Swords Dance. Also, take a look at it. It has one of the most sleek and attractive looks in the whole Pokedex.
Volcarona

It’s true—this is only the first of two different Volcarona on this list. The default Volcarona is a Bug/Fire type with a pretty good Special Attack and just the right amount of Speed to get the job done. Scarlet and Violet are full of physical enemies, so it’s nice to have something a little different.
Getting this Pokemon is also a lot of fun. Larvesta grows at the ridiculously high level 59, so Volcarona is a reward you look forward to after a lot of hard work. Instead, you could just catch one in Area Zero and feel good about not having to do any work.
Scizor

Like Heracross, Scizor has been a star since the beginning. The way it looks is one of the best in all of Pokemon, and its fighting skills make it a loyal friend. You can’t go wrong with Scizor because it has great moves and a high Attack stat. It really does well when it fights an opponent it can beat.
In the competition scene, one of the most common ways to use Scizor is to use its Technician ability along with its priority moves, Bullet Punch and Quick Attack, to make up for its slow speed. You can use this skill very effectively in 8 Ball Pool because it is simple and easy to understand.
Slither Wing

Volcarona has two paradox forms in Scarlet and Violet. Slither Wing is the Volcarona from a long time ago and is only found in Scarlet. This Pokemon gives up Special Attack for Attack, gets a lot of self-sufficiency from Morning Sun, and has the best First Impression on the list, which it can use right away to do a lot of damage.
In addition, it has a totally awesome design that makes it look like a scary campfire. This makes it a star both on and off the battlefield.
Vikavolt

Vikavolt is a strong little bug. Because it can type both Bug and Electric, it has an incredibly low number of weaknesses and a good number of resistances. With an awesome look and a Special Attack stat that is out of this world, Vikavolt has it all.
Vikavolt only takes average damage from Ground-type attacks because it is a Bug-type Pokemon, so Levitate isn’t the best ability. However, it can still be useful in some situations. The best things about Vikavolt are its unique typing and great, mechanical-like appearance.
Leavanny

Leavanny is a strong Pokemon. It has a good physical attack, but it’s hard to decide whether to use it for offense or defense. Its Hidden Ability Overcoat is great for blocking weather effects and moves that change your state, like Sleep Powder.
On the other hand, Leavanny has some good attacking moves, such as Leaf Blade and X-Scissor, and Swords Dance can be used to set up. Leavanny isn’t great at either offense or defense, but it’s very flexible, which makes it a great choice for casual playthroughs. Plus, it looks different from the other Bugs on this list because of its unique shape.
Yanmega

If you’re looking for a Bug or Flying-type Pokemon, Yanmega is the best because it looks pretty scary. With its Tinted Lens Ability, along with its fast base speed and powerful Special Attack, it’s a huge threat. Tinted Lens gives great coverage, especially when you think about how many types can’t be attacked by Bug types at all.
Giga Drain, Shadow Ball, and Psychic give Yanmega great type defense against a wide range of enemies. Bug Buzz and Airslash are great for STAB damage.
